Toronto FanExpo 2010
Posted on: Wednesday August 25 2010 by Frank
Just wanted to let you guys know that June, my sister and I will be going to the Toronto FanExpo convention this Saturday and Sunday. Just as visitors, though. Edemia's not really big and important enough to deserve a table yet. If anyone here is going, feel free to try and find us or drop us a line first. We'll have some bookmarks to give away and maybe I can manage a quick sketch or two.

I also have a Nintendo DS, and I enjoy looking up who's on the little network chat thingy once in a while, although I really wish people didn't just use it to draw dongs.

Malifaux: starting out
Posted on: Thursday August 12 2010 by Frank
Hello all

As some of you may know, I'm a bit of a Wargamer nut. I've been collecting Warhammer and Warhammer 40k miniatures for a few years now, accumulating everything in my gaming closet. Some of it is spilling out, much to June's despair.

So anyway, I've decided to start a casual blog about my miniature wargaming activities. From assembling to painting to gaming.

Now Malifaux is a relatively new skirmish game from Wyrd Miniatures . What attracted me the most to this new game were the miniature designs. It's some sort of mix of steampunk, gothic horror and far west. Seems like an odd mash-up at times, but the story really makes it all work. The game centers around relatively small Crews of 5-7 models that duke it out while trying to accomplish their individual goals. It's fast-paced and brutal. One thing that's very interesting is that the game does not use any dice, relying instead on a deck of cards. It adds an extra layer of strategy as you manage not only your characters' abilities, but the hand of cards you are dealt.

Browsing through the different factions and Crews available, I decided to settle on Nicodem. The cool, sophisticated criminal who also happens to be a zombie-making Necromancer!

Nicodem is my homeboy.

I'll be posting updates as I make more progress. Let's see how fast I can get my crew up and running for battle!
